Corporate Citizenship

At Old Mutual, we understand that good corporate citizenry and socially responsible behaviour is vital to Old Mutual’s sustainability, but our commitment and investment in this area also comes from our real desire to give back to our clients and the communities in which we operate by tangibly exhibiting our values of accountability, integrity, respect and pushing beyond boundaries in all our corporate actions.

For decades, Old Mutual Namibia has played a key role in the Namibian community through the provision of financial services and our involvement in community and empowerment projects; with social and economic transformation as integral parts of our strategy, we have put great effort into bridging the income distribution divide that exists in Namibia and we do so as part of a collective effort between government and the private sector.

In this vein we have successfully continued our BEE partnerships with community organizations and groupings with the aim of empowering previously disadvantaged sectors of Namibian society, as well as worked alongside others to deliver special vehicles such as the NedNamibia Education Trust.

Through the Old Mutual Foundation - our corporate social investment vehicle funded by a 1% of after-tax profit allocation annually – we have delivered a wide range of social initiatives throughout Namibia, illustrating our commitment towards the development of the communities in which we operate.

We annually support schools, hospitals and local projects through the Foundation, and empowerment initiatives relative to our focus areas and communities are positively impacted by our focusing on the core areas of Education, Community Development and Skills and Capacity Building.

Old Mutual’s allocation of 1% of the company’s after-tax profits makes Old Mutual fully compliant with the requirements of the Financial Sector Charter, which documents development Old Mutual was proud to champion.

Being a leading financial services company in Namibia comes with great responsibility, one which we are committed to taking very seriously.
