Do you qualify for free shares?

Old Mutual is working hard to locate Namibian shareholders who have not yet come forward to claim their shares and dividends.

These shareholders collectively have claim to about 2,9 million shares. We appeal to qualifying members (including Pension Funds) who have not yet confirmed their entitlement to free shares to contact Old Mutual. A qualifying member is likely to be someone who was a policyholder on 25 September 1998. The members may not necessarily still be policyholders.

The shares are being held on behalf of qualifying members in the Old Mutual Unclaimed Shares Trust. This trust was registered to protect the interests of members who have not confirmed their personal details in accordance with the legal requirements of the demutualisation scheme.

Once qualifying members have confirmed their personal details the shares will be allocated to them. They will then be entitled to all dividend payments made to date on the shares allocated to them and to deal with the shares as they please. They can either sell the shares and take the proceeds or retain them. If they decide to retain them, the shares can be held in the Old Mutual Share Account for their benefit.

If potential shareholders do not confirm their personal details before July 2004, they will lose their right to these shares and the unclaimed shares will then revert to Old Mutual plc. It is therefore important that qualifying members who think they may be entitled to shares, contact Old Mutual shareholder Services at (061) 260111
