On 15th May 2020, Old Mutual delivered food parcels to the value of N$ 31 800 (Thirty-One Thousand, Eight Hundred Namibia Dollar) that will benefit 36 vulnerable households in the beautiful capital of the Hardap region. The handover took place at the new regional council building in Mariental.
Old Mutual made a commitment of N$5 million towards COVID-19 prevention efforts of which N$1 million was set aside for food supplies to benefit affected vulnerable individuals and communities across all the 14 regions in our country. Hardap is the fourth region to benefit from this country wide food parcel donation by Old Mutual which bring the total value to N$ 533 497.86 (Five-Hundred and Thirty-Three Thousand, Four Hundred and Ninety-Seven Namibia Dollar and Eighty-Six cents).
Old Mutual will continue with the roll-out plan in the remaining 10 regions. We do so in consultation with the lead Ministry’s National Health Emergency Management Committee as our key partner.
Old Mutual Keetmanshoop Branch Manager, Bernhardt Vries who led the handover said “Old Mutual is continuing to demonstrate in practical terms our commitment to help address some of the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in our country. Although the people of this historic town are known for their big smiles and warm hospitality, many are suffering due to poverty, unemployment and many other social ills. Mr Vries further stated that “today the focus is on Mariental, as we are still busy finalising the handover preparations for Rehoboth which should take place in the coming week.” Also in attendance was the Honourable Governor Salomon April who received the consignment on behalf of the Hardap region.
As a responsible and caring business that has been serving Namibians for the past 100 years Old Mutual will continue to fulfil its commitment as a certain friend in uncertain times. We will fight and overcome the COVID-19 outbreak in Namibia as we continue Doing Great Things every day.
