      On 30th April 2020, Old Mutual delivered food parcels to the value of N$ 136 848.93 (One Hundred and Thirty Six Thousand, Eight Hundred and Forty-Eight Dollars and Ninety-Three cents) to the vulnerable communities of Omaruru and Usakos in the Erongo region of Namibia. The respective handovers took place at the Uiba-Oas Crystal Market outside Usakos in the morning and later in the day at the Omaruru District Hospital.

      Today’s event was presided by the Old Mutual Swakopmund branch manager, Manfried Kaanjose who said that “Erongo region is the second region to receive a consignment of food supplies to needy people in Usakos and Omaruru, benefiting from Old Mutual recently announced donation of which N$1 million was set aside for provision of food to the poor and vulnerable communities across all the 14 regions of our country”. Mr Kaanjose further stated that today’s food parcels will benefit 190 individuals in Usakos and 135 individuals in Omaruru.

      In his concluding remarks, Mr Kaanjosa extended his appreciation to the media for keeping the public informed of Old Mutual’s implementation progress as the company pursue the speedy delivery of its national rollout plan to ensure that our fellow countrymen and women in need, truly benefit from Old Mutual’s committed funds.

      Ms Maloney Aoxamus the Usakos district social worker from the Ministry of Health & Social Services expressed her gratitude, stating: “The reason they choose Spitzkoppe area was because the communities livelihood has been negatively affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, due to the fact that the communities survival is depended on tourism“.

      Maloney further extended her sincere gratitude to each and every member of Old Mutual that contributed to the success of this day and that these good deeds will never be forgotten.

      Old Mutual has commitment N$5 million in total towards curbing COVID-19 in Namibia and has set N$1 million aside for the supply of food and nutrition support for the poor and vulnerable communities in all 14 regions of the country. Today’s handover serves as the second food parcel delivery by Old Mutual, as the first contribution to the value of N$208 000 (Two Hundred and Eight Thousand Namibia Dollar) was made to assist vulnerable communities in the Khomas region on the 8th April 2020.
