The Old Mutual Foundation has announced the recipients of its 2026 Staff Community Builder initiative, committing N$300 000 towards 18 staff-led community projects aimed at creating meaningful and lasting impact across Namibia.
The Staff Community Builder initiative encourages Old Mutual employees to identify and support causes that matter most to the communities they serve. Through the programme, employees champion projects that address social challenges and improve the lives of vulnerable individuals and communities across the country.
This year saw a record 28 applications, reflecting the passion and commitment of Old Mutual employees to making a difference beyond the workplace. Following a rigorous evaluation process, 18 projects were selected for funding.
The Old Mutual Foundation will invest N$300 000 in the successful projects, supporting impactful community initiatives in education, food security, disability support, elderly care, suicide prevention, and community development across Namibia.
The selected projects span multiple regions, including Khomas, Hardap, Erongo, Oshana, Omusati, Kavango West and //Kharas, demonstrating the broad reach of the initiative and the strong culture of volunteerism among Old Mutual employees.
Mignon du Preez, Group Marketing, Public Affairs and Sustainability Executive at Old Mutual Namibia, said the programme continues to showcase the extraordinary impact that can be achieved when employees are empowered to lead positive change in their communities.
"At Old Mutual, we believe that sustainable impact starts with people who genuinely care about the communities around them. The Staff Community Builder initiative gives our employees an opportunity to turn compassion into action and create real, measurable change where it is needed most. The record number of applications received this year is a testament to the generosity, commitment, and purpose-driven spirit of our people. We are incredibly proud of every employee who stepped forward to make a difference," Du Preez added.
The 2026 beneficiaries include projects focused on supporting persons with disabilities, renovating school facilities, improving access to nutrition, assisting vulnerable children, supporting old age homes, strengthening food security initiatives and advancing community well-being.
Through initiatives such as the Staff Community Builder programme, Old Mutual continues to advance its purpose of enabling positive futures and helping build stronger, more resilient communities across Namibia.
