The Old Mutual Foundation has officially concluded its Technovation Hackathon, marking the end of an exciting innovation journey for young Namibians. The winners were announced following a rigorous and intense live pitch session featuring the top finalists.
The final round brought together the most promising ideas developed during the programme, with participants showcasing innovative, research-driven solutions aimed at addressing real-world challenges. The high standard of entries resulted in a tie for third place, leading to a top four instead of the traditional top three finalists.
In partnership with Basecamp Namibia, the Old Mutual Foundation awarded the following winners:
- 1st Place: Enkali Prime – Auwanga Enkali
- 2nd Place: LLM Legion – Ra’hab Mukirai
- 3rd Place: SmartConnect – Kanyangele Lamek
- 4th Place (Bonus Prize): Resolva – Liandro Goagoseb
Given the exceptional quality of the final pitches, the Old Mutual Foundation, together with Basecamp Namibia, introduced a fourth-place bonus prize in recognition of the outstanding effort demonstrated by all finalists who advanced to the final round.
Speaking on the outcome of the Hackathon, Patricia Olivier, Chairperson of the Old Mutual Foundation, highlighted the importance of platforms that nurture youth innovation and practical problem-solving.
“At the Old Mutual Foundation, we are committed to creating opportunities that enable young people to turn ideas into meaningful solutions. The Technovation Hackathon has demonstrated the depth of talent, creativity and determination among our youth. The quality of the final pitches was exceptional, and it is encouraging to see how much thought and research has gone into developing solutions that can contribute to sustainable futures,” said Olivier.
She added that the decision to award a fourth prize reflects the Foundation’s recognition of excellence and commitment shown by all finalists.
“When young people are given the right platforms and support, they rise to the challenge. Together with our partners, Basecamp Namibia, we are proud to support these innovators as they continue their journeys beyond the competition.”
The Technovation Hackathon forms part of the Old Mutual Foundation’s broader commitment to empowering youth through innovation, entrepreneurship and skills development, in line with its focus on enabling sustainable economic participation.
Through initiatives such as this, the Foundation continues to invest in building a future where young Namibians are equipped to move from learning to earning.
