On the 7th of October 2020, Old Mutual handed over a sponsorship to the University of Namibia Cares Initiative, UNAM Cares. UNAM Cares was  established in September 2019 by the Vice Chancellor Professor Kenneth Matengu and spearheaded by Dr Rachel Freeman.

In the spirit of partnerships’ Old Mutual Namibia, with the guidance of Buffalo Financial services CC, donated N$20 000 (Twenty Thousand Namibia dollars) to the UNAM Cares Initiative which is a strategic platform for UNAM staff and students to lead, plan and execute various community service projects.

“It remains a great honour for us at Old Mutual to be able to make a meaningful difference in our community and country at large”, stated Ashante Manetti Marketing Manager at Old Mutual during her keynote address.

Manetti further went on to say that; “As we celebrate 100 years of operations in Namibia this year, an enduring lesson we learnt is that, while things rapidly change around us, the things that truly matter don’t.

We all aspire for a better life and improved livelihood of the most vulnerable. This is why the value of caring is dear to us particularly at this time when Namibia faces an uncertain future as the threat of COVID-19 impacts our communities and pose a significant risk to the domestic economy.” She added.

“As a company that cares for the communities we serve, we share in the Vision of UNAM Cares to provide a lasting tool for social impact through the power of partnerships, particularly during these trying times, which provide an opportunity to demonstrate Old Mutual Namibia’s commitment to our credo of being a certain friend in uncertain times.

We will continue to collaborate and commit ourselves to the greater good, as we strive to do great things every day while we adhere to the regulations and laid down protocols at all times.

We hope and trust this donation will be of significance in achieving the UNAM Cares Initiatives intended goals and we encourage them to continue doing great things every day.” She concluded
