What is Expanded Infrastructure Fund?
Just like all the Alternative Investment funds the objective is to support socio-economic development in Namibia whilst generating market-related returns for investors. The Fund provides investors with a diversification opportunity by investing in an asset class that has a low correlation to equities. In addition to the return objective, investments must contribute to the economic empowerment and social upliftment of disadvantaged communities in Namibia.
Investment instruments used for this Fund:
- Partnership interests
- Loans to portfolio companies
- Units in policy wrapped products
- Debentures, shares, joint venture interest
- Warrants and options
- Special purpose vehicles are required to take the form of a private company only.
- Exit strategy required at the time of making the investment decision.
The investment includes, but is not limited to:
- Road and railway infrastructure
- Bulk power supply projects
- Unlocking urban land value
- Power distribution projects and telecommunications infrastructure
- Education and healthcare infrastructure
- Waste water treatment and management infrastructure
- Investment horizon: 10 years
