What is Tunga Real Estate Fund?
Just like all the Alternative Investment funds the objective of this fund is to support socio-economic development in Namibia whilst generating market-related returns for investors. The fund provides investors with a diversification opportunity by investing in an asset class that has a low correlation to equities. In addition to the return objective, investments must contribute to the economic empowerment and social upliftment of disadvantaged communities in Namibia.
Investment instruments used for this Fund:
- Partnership interest
- Loans to portfolio companies
- Units in policy wrapped products
- Debentures, shares, joint venture interest
- Warrants and options
- Special purpose vehicles allowed in the form of a trust, Ltd partnership, general partnership, co-ownership, joint ventures and other unincorporated forms
- Exit strategy required at the time of making the investment decision

- All underlying portfolio investments must have BEE participation
- May not invest more than 30% of capital in a single portfolio company unless prior approval from the governing board is obtained
- Investment Horizon: 10 years
