What is it?

A SIM Swap, or number porting, is when a criminal clones your SIM Card or number to intercept your messages, One Time PINs (OTPs) or account information.

How can you protect yourself?

When your SIM card is cloned, or your number is ported, it will render the SIM card in your phone useless. Therefore, if you notice that you are suddenly not receiving any calls or messages (especially if you are transacting online and should be receiving OTPs or notifications), or your cell service isn’t available, check with your mobile service provider immediately.
